5 Things You’re Not Supposed To Know About Chiropractors: San Francisco Chiropractor Comments

By admin, April 23, 2010 8:53 pm

I came upon a great article this week that I would like to share from an obscure source, it even includes references!  You can download it here (warning PDF download).  The main points are summarized below:

1.  Their education is equal to their medical colleagues … and might be better in some areas.  Several studies have shown our knowledge of musculoskeletal disorders are superior to that of many medical couterparts.

2.  They do more than crunch backs and necks.  We are licensed and take tests in physical therapy modalities and we are as the article say’s licensed as “primary care providers” although I would choose to use the phrase “portal of entry”.  You do not need a referral to see us like you would for physical therapy.

3.  It’s safe.  Despite the press and rumors manipulation by a chiropractor has been proven safe in several large studies.

4.  Chiropractors took the AMA to court … and won … twice.  For a long time the AMA disseminated false information about chiropractic and chiropractors to their members and the public for the purpose of protecting their market share.

5.  M.D.’s and D.C.’s are working together.  I went to dinner with and orthopedic surgeon last night Paul Sloser MD, he is completely accepting of chiropractic, has published extensively in many journals and does not hesitate to refer for manipulation.

Information About Tylenol Recall

By admin, January 19, 2010 5:38 pm
You may have heard recent news reports about the expansion of the December TYLENOL Product Recalls. This recall involves TYLENOL Children’s Meltaway Tablets, TYLENOL Pain Relievers and TYLENOL Arthritis pain medications.

A chemical breakdown in the wood pallets used to transport these products has contaminated many different lot numbers of TYLENOL. This has caused the product to smell musty or moldy and patients are reporting side effects including nausea, stomach pain, vomiting or diarrhea. To make sure that you don’t have one of contaminated products you can visit the following website:

Click on the tab that says “recalled products”
Enter the lot number in the space provided (the lot number can be found on the side of the bottle)
Directions will be provided to you if your product is on the recall list.

If you or someone you know is continually reaching for the medicine bottle it may be time to consider chiropractic care for your pain!

Chiropractic care provides many opportunites to reduce or eliminate the need to rely on over the counter pain medications for conditions such as:

* Arthritis * Chronic Pain * Sprains and Strains * Lifting Injuries * Lower Back and Neck Pain * Headaches *

If you find that your use or reliance on pain medications is increasing please make sure to talk to your chiropractor. Pain medications only manage pain while chiropractors are well trained to find and treat the source of your pain. This often times results in resolution of your pain or reduces your reliance on medications.

Research studies illustrate the robust and rapid decline of musculoskeletal pain when treated with manual therapies such as manipulation and often perform better than medications such as prescription non steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAID’s) and muscle relaxants.

Chiropractic care is cost effective and works quickly to resolve your pain or that of a loved one. If you or someone you know is reaching for the TYLENOL or other similar products please call our San Francisco Chiropractic office or visit us at 2394 31st Avenue San Francisco, CA 94116 for a consultation to see how we can help.

President's CupI noticed a huge billboard across from my office appear this last week for the President’s Cup coming to our neighborhood Harding Park Golf course at Lake Merced.  Around 75 percent of PGA tour golfers visit a chiropractor regularly for performance enhancement and injury treatment.  Tiger woods has had a long history of chiropractic care.  Don’t be surprised if Tiger visits our local San Francisco Chiropractor!

How to Choose a Chiropractor

By admin, August 17, 2009 4:59 pm

The Chicago Tribune recently published an article on chiropractic with some great recommendations for choosing a chiropractor.

-Be wary of those who say spinal manipulation can cure whatever ails you
-Ask whether exercise is part of the program.
-Ask friends and relatives for recommendations.
-Get more than an adjustment
-Shop around

Great recommendations for finding a chiropractor in San Francisco or anywhere else.
