Working on Jason Thomas at the Supercross
This weekend the AMA Supercross arrives in San Francisco. In the past I have had the chance to work with some world class riders at the Supercross and wow do they have a lot of injuries! All of the top riders have a personal chiropractor to help get them through the season.
You don’t have to be a pro to see your San Francisco Chiropractor, contact us if you are having back pain to see how we can help.
From the American Chiropractic Association:
“According to long-awaited results from a congressionally mandated pilot project testing the feasibility of expanding chiropractic services in the Medicare program, patients have a high rate of satisfaction with the care they receive from doctors of chiropractic.
When asked to rate their satisfaction on a 10-point scale, 87 percent of patients in the study gave their doctor of chiropractic a level of 8 or higher. What’s more, 56 percent of those patients rated their chiropractor with a perfect 10.”
That level of satisfaction is something I am sure proud of. This is not the first study to demonstrate the high satisfaction rates for chiropractic care. Call your San Francisco Chiropractor or Sonoma Chiropractor.
You may have heard recent news reports about the expansion of the December TYLENOL Product Recalls. This recall involves TYLENOL Children’s Meltaway Tablets, TYLENOL Pain Relievers and TYLENOL Arthritis pain medications.
A chemical breakdown in the wood pallets used to transport these products has contaminated many different lot numbers of TYLENOL. This has caused the product to smell musty or moldy and patients are reporting side effects including nausea, stomach pain, vomiting or diarrhea. To make sure that you don’t have one of contaminated products you can visit the following website:
Click on the tab that says “recalled products”
Enter the lot number in the space provided (the lot number can be found on the side of the bottle)
Directions will be provided to you if your product is on the recall list.
If you or someone you know is continually reaching for the medicine bottle it may be time to consider chiropractic care for your pain!
Chiropractic care provides many opportunites to reduce or eliminate the need to rely on over the counter pain medications for conditions such as:
* Arthritis * Chronic Pain * Sprains and Strains * Lifting Injuries * Lower Back and Neck Pain * Headaches *
If you find that your use or reliance on pain medications is increasing please make sure to talk to your chiropractor. Pain medications only manage pain while chiropractors are well trained to find and treat the source of your pain. This often times results in resolution of your pain or reduces your reliance on medications.
Research studies illustrate the robust and rapid decline of musculoskeletal pain when treated with manual therapies such as manipulation and often perform better than medications such as prescription non steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAID’s) and muscle relaxants.
I know this post is a little bit out there but a study recently
peaked my interest and thought those with kids should know. At one time the ingestion of coins by children was considered innocuos. In 1997 21,000 children presented to the ER after ingesting coins, after choking risk had passed children were released and the coins were allowed to follow the normal course of the digestive tract and to eventually be expelled.
I don’t know what the ER’s current procedures are but it turns out that post 1982 pennies should be closely monitored as they can cause zinc mortality and ulceration of the stomach. Check out the study in the Journal of Radiology.
Fresh of the presses the Jan 2010 issue of the Journal of Clinical Rehabilitation is a study comparing chiropractic manipulation, physical therapy and back school. Supporting earlier positive studies the author’s concluded, “Spinal manipulation provided better short and long-term functional improvement, and more pain relief in the follow-up than either back school or individual physiotherapy”.
Combine this with more recent studies demonstrating the cost effectiveness of chiropractic care and you’ve got a winning combination. What are you waiting for? Call your San Francisco Chiropractor.
A study published in the July issue of Spine reaffirmed several earlier studies concluding, “Both orthopedic surgeons’ and family physicians’ knowledge of treating lower back pain is deficient”. When given a survey testing knowledge of simple lower back pain management orthopedists average score was 44.3 out of 100.
At our office we only recommend care based on evidence based guidelines. Given the above study’s conclusions you may want to consult your San Francisco Chiropractor before seeking the advice of a medical physician.
Jack LaLanne was really ahead of his time and still is. After graduating from chiropractic school he started a gym in Oakland to focus on preventative care. Check out this great article at American Profile. If you have any questions about how exercise can be used for health and wellness call your San Francisco Chiropractor.
