I noticed a huge billboard across from my office appear this last week for the President’s Cup coming to our neighborhood Harding Park Golf course at Lake Merced. Around 75 percent of PGA tour golfers visit a chiropractor regularly for performance enhancement and injury treatment. Tiger woods has had a long history of chiropractic care. Don’t be surprised if Tiger visits our local San Francisco Chiropractor!

Where does someone who has made $146,259,585 in career earnings go when he has a health challenge and needs to be back in action quickly? To the chiropractor, of course.
Hot off the presses of Risk and Insurance online. This is not a surprise, there have been many studies demonstrating the cost effectiveness of chiropractic. This one is important because it comes out when we are in the midst of healthcare reform. Will the most proven, most cost effective treatment be included in a significant way?
“Supporters of chiropractic treatment praised the findings, saying that the cost-effectiveness of the method has been documented in several studies.”
“Glenn Manceaux, president of the American Chiropractic Association, pointed to a study published in a 2005 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics that found chiropractic and medical care have comparable costs for treating chronic low-back pain, with chiropractic care producing significantly better outcomes. In addition, a study published in a 2003 edition of Spine medical journal found that manual manipulation provides better short-term relief of chronic spinal pain than a variety of medications, he said.”
“Especially during the health care reform debate, it’s important that chiropractic and other conservative care methods are taken into serious consideration as a cost-effective alternative to the utilization of expensive surgery and hospital-based care,” he said.
Finally we are starting to get some great places to eat lunch on Taraval in the Sunset District of San Francisco. A patient told me about Ninki earlier this week and I was itching to try it out. Driving by I saw the outside of the place and instantly got a good feeling. I had the bento box which was perfect for lunch and only $8! Four large slices of California roll (hard to fit in my mouth), two larger than average nigiri pieces, rice, miso soup and salad. The chef came out after a few minutes and asked how everything was and mentioned that the tuna was just cut from the fish about 20 minutes earlier. That explained how it was so amazing and practically melted in my mouth. Ninki is a great addition to the neighborhood, no doubt this will become one of my regular spots, check it out.
People ask me every day about taking NSAIDs for pain prevention during a race and for recovering from an injury. It’s not common knowlege that NSAIDs actually delay recovery from injuries. This is a great article from the New York Times that everyone should read.
A great option is to come to our San Francisco Chiropractic office for natural treatments to promote faster recovery.
This is a great video of Bill Moyers interviewing Melody Peterson. Petersen reports that Americans spend more on medicines than do all the people of Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina combined. She reveals the facts regarding drug company marketing and it’s negative impact on the health of Americans.
